Scottish Ceilidh Bands Have Everyone Dancing
There is nothing that can match live music played by a terrific band to ensure a great night out. It’s a well known fact that after a few refreshments even the shyest and most retiring men and women will probably be on the dancefloor and shaking their stuff to the music. So whatever type of bash you are planning, be it a birthday celebration, wedding, anniversary or simply an excuse to get together with friends a live band will make a big difference.
When you’re hiring a group for your celebration you’ve got all kinds to pick from. You could go for a jazz band or a rock band but to get everyone up on the dance floor and dancing through the night the thing you need is a Ceilidh band. Ceilidh bands play traditional country music for people to get up and boogie to together with some songs, jokes and storytelling included for good measure. The music performed by Ceili bands may vary depending on where you live so Irish Ceili bands may have a different style from Scottish Ceilidh bands but the end result will be the same-a great time for all. Each Ceili band has its own caller whose job it is to call the new dances and teach the dancers in the steps which go with each dance. He’ll almost certainly begin by giving a brief introduction to the following song and talk about the steps that go with it and call out directions while the song is being performed. At the beginning in the night the dances and the steps will be fairly simple and easy to perform. However as the night continues the music will become quicker and the steps slightly tougher to do. While Ceili bands are strongly grounded in the Celtic tradition, barn dance bands and Hoedown bands come from the other side of the pond. However there are many similarities between the two with each of them based upon typically traditional music with a caller calling the steps. You can have a Ceili or even a Hoedown in virtually any location that suits you as long as there’s sufficient room for folks to get up and dance and have a good time. Callers bands and also wedding ceilidh bands will supply their PA system and caller so all you have to do is find a suitable location and fill it with your friends and family and have a great time.
